5 out of 5 Problems Solved

    Keith

Our 15 year old cat began to have trouble digesting overly processed canned food, even the most high end ones. She would get constipated and vomit, then leave her # twos outside the box. Since we switched to Tiki Cat raw a year ago we have eliminated the problem (no pun intended) and she is always happy with her food. I am a little worried about the mysterious phosphorus level re. the chicken variety since it is her favorite. Being an older cat we worry about any kidney issues that could arise. I will file a separate question on that. She used to love the raw Turkey as well but it seemed as if there were increasingly larger chunks of marrow that made her throw up a few times so we stopped on that.

Bummer. I was thinking about buying this as another raw option for my cats, but this whole not answering the phosphorus question has really put me off. Tiki, I hope you know that your unwillingness to share this info publicly is literally causing you to lose customers!!!

4 out of 5 Cat loved it!

    Marguerite

My senior cat loved this food, and she is hit or miss with the commercial raw food – mostly miss. I didn’t give 5 starts only because I’m waiting to find out what the phosphorous / salt content is. The high protein & high fat is great for senior cats. Good price.

Also agreeing on other questions. Not publicly posting phosphorus is suspicious and unsettling, company should reconsider their stance. Further, I asked for this info previously and it was never sent to me directly either. Why not just answer publicly??

    Jennifer Oropeza

Are the bones ground up completely? My cat recently because seriously ill due to hard, slightly larger chunks of bone in Darwin’s Raw.

Also, how long does it last once thawed in the refrigerator?

      Tiki Pets

Hello! Yes, the bones and meat are ground up completely. The food itself is a soft consistency, with no chunks of meat. Once thawed, the food can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days, so we recommend only thawing out 2-3 days worth of food at a time.

  18. Question

    Laurie Raymond

As a retailer with many former RADcat customers, I have started to carry Tiki Raw, but am concerned about 2 issues: the HPP, and the synthetic vitamins and minerals. Lack of organs means you have to use these synthetic supplements. Why don’t you use whole food sources? and why not resist pressure to HPP? You do know that sterile food is not natural food!

    • Tiki Pets

      Tiki Pets

Hello! The HPP process does not involve the use of heat. A current study of 40 nutrients concluded that there was no breakdown in organoleptic properties, nutrient value or nutrient absorption. We use a premixed blend of vitamins and minerals to ensure that every tub of Tiki RAW™ meets the AAFCO requirements for a complete and balanced diet and that it delivers consistent nutrition from batch to batch. Many raw diets point to fruits, vegetables, or other carbohydrates as natural nutrient sources. These ingredients have no nutritional value for cats. Cats are obligate carnivores and cannot digest carbohydrates, nor use them to synthesize essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids or fatty acids.
